This is a product I worked on during my time at Nanyang Technological University for the module sensitivity in wood. The brief asked us to create a portable container that is characterised by natural flow using hand-woodcarving techniques. The container has a leaf – like shape that curves in, which gives it anatural wavy flow. It was partially inspired by the leaves I encountered on my path daily while walking home. The play of thickness and roundness of the edges make the piece more alive, almost like it is dancing.The pattern of the grain compliments the form of the container as it almost follows the curvy shape.
